About a month ago I was asked to shoot a lookbook shoot for Deux Lux Handbags. The local Brooklyn stylist Erica Lavelanet asked me to be apart of this collaboration. I have shot Erica before, and let's just say she always puts a smile on my face. I have never met someone so happy and hilarious.
As if her personality isn't enough, her style is perfection. She was the model for the first half, then styled the in house model for the second half. I wanted to share a couple shots from that day.
Also I have to say thank you to one of my best friends Skyler Brown. She came all the way from NC to help assist me that day. As I said before on my blog, I like to keep things real...
That being said, I knew I could bang out this shoot with the first half being outside and using my lovely natural light friend. That is what I am comfortable with. I was a bit nervous about the second half being in studio. Don't get me wrong I have worked in a studio in school and internship, but this was different. This was bigger and more intimidating. I knew I needed help to deliver the best of the best to this company. I didn't want to go in rusty ....(because it had been awhile..) I first admitted to myself I needed help and called Skyler immediately. Having her there was a lifesaver, but she also made me refresh my memory and do things myself.
I have learned that admitting you need help sometimes is ok. Why you ask? Well it's because if I would have went into that alone :
1. It would have taken me 10x longer getting things together ..meaning lights, stands, umbrellas..
(this would include cleaning up afterward as well....which is a lot if you have ever been in a studio..)
2. I wasn't 100% on my game in that section of lighting. I needed a refresh. I needed someone who knew their shit 100%. In my case Skyler was the one.

Example will be below to show you that I believe we as a team delivered 120%. Both outside and inside on this shoot. Only showing a couple, because the rest will be in the lookbook.
Anyways, I hope you kind of take something away from this. I am still learning myself. If I wasn't still learning more and more I would be worried for myself. All I know is I want to get better. I want to be companies first choice in their photographer line up. I want to be able to do studio and natural light. As you can see I want a lot of things, but I am not afraid to do the dirty work to get there. If that means admitting I need help or advice sometimes, then so be it. It is making me a better person/photographer.

Hey Chelsea
A couple weeks back the lovely Chelsea Lane. She is a blogger from Minneapolis. We have been friends on Instagram for quite some time now. I told her if she visited NYC I would love to photograph her.
Luckily her visit happened sooner rather then later. We decided to walk around Soho and shoot. Chelsea is one beautiful lady. Her hair is magical and the wind just did its job. I basically had her in a bush by the end of the shoot, which you will see at the end. Something about it just hit me. I said "Just stay there...this is awesome."
Anyways...explanation for my absence. I want you all to know, because I am a really real person. I have just been really bad about my posts because I have just been so uninspired. I haven't been shooting for fun like I used too. A lot of that has to do with the fact NYC was in one weather mode for a VERY long time. The cold air would just suck the life right out of you. Never really wanting to get out of bed and enjoy the day. Finally the weather is beautiful and my spirit is coming back happier then ever. Honestly I think I just needed a little sun to hit my face for more then one day out of a month. I feel myself wanting to see/shoot everything.
From now on I have no excuse, I must shoot more for my blog and not just show you on Instagram. I want to have many outlooks for all that are following along my journey. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy these photos! Thank you for sticking around.

Meet Mia
A couple weeks ago I got to shoot the lovely Mia. Now a dear friend, Mia has such humbling presence, and I am so glad that I had the pleasure of shooting her. Her hair was like Rapunzale, and her movements were effortless.

As of late,
I have admittedly been discouraged. A shoot like this was just what I needed. No pressure at all just learning from someone else. Shooting constantly is key if you want to improve. I have to do the normal jobs to make rent, but I haven't gotten a job in a studio because I know personally that I would be miserable. I need to be using my surroundings while I shoot, and learning to use natural light in every way possible. I am now embracing harsh light and shadows.
I look to people like Mia for that inspiration I need to grow. Just when I was feeling strung out and not creative, MAGIC happened...
Well I guess that is for you all to decide. As for future posts, they will be more frequent. Sorry for my discouragement. Sorry for letting you down. I don't like that, and I want to be better at this. No excuses.

Hey guys I know you don't believe me anymore, but I promise this post will make up for the absence. I have a lot of photos from my recent ventures. Soon I will be talking about some collaborations I have been apart of, but I want you to see WHOLE pictures of my teaser ones on Instagram.
I have been stressed out lately to be honest. I have been trying to figure out what is next for me and my photography. It has taken a lot out of me. I am trying like soooooo many others are in NYC to just do my freelance as a job. Reality with freelance is that the "free" part can be used against you a lot of the time. It's hard sitting down and figuring out how much you are worth. Sounds weird I know...it's the sad truth to say the least. I have been trying to figure how to charge my clients to be able to make a living in NYC. I have been so grateful for the constant work/collaborations that have helped me get thus far in my career. So it's very important for myself to get the ew stuff like money that no one likes to talk about together. It's time to be smart and think about the logistics of living in NYC while also having fun on the side. By fun I mean my endless amounts of #dailycortados that I don't want to live without...oh and spending $7.00 on cookies instead of getting groceries..like my boyfriend pointed out :( Well I am a firm believer that a cookie a day keeps not only a doctor away but THIS girl happy and full of smiles.

I am at 11K on Instagram and it is all thanks to my followers from the beginning. You have stuck by my crazy babbling and spac-------y blog posts.....and for that I want to say THANK YOU!!! You don't know how surreal this all is. I have literally built a following from the ground up without being suggested etc. You all are awesome.

Long time no talk
Hello guys!
I hope you haven't moved on and given up on me lately. I have had the most crazy past 2 months. If you foliow me on Instagram then you have noticed I have been busy with a part-time that felt like a full-time job during the holidays. Not to mention I just moved into a new place with my lovely friend/roomie Anarosa that you see to the right! Not only that, but I recently just photographed two weddings. Oh my! So as I edit those you will definitely get some sneak peeks! I may have added a couple you have seen parts of below.
I am finally back, and getting so many new things coming to you all! I am going to be featuring collaborations with many artists and makers. I promise it was worth the wait. Also I am going to be getting a new logo soon which is very exciting! I am so thankful for what I have learned in 2013 from so many talented people. I have gotten the pleasure to make so many relationships with people through my photography. These are people that have inspired me to create and reach my goals and dreams. The crazy thing is I am now getting to photograph them. I am so blessed and appreciative for the opportunities I have been given thus far, and can't wait to do much more! I am constantly growing and learning.
I wanted to give you all a little start to the new year with a couple random photos from as of late. I got the pleasure of photographing some of my friends I met over Instagram. Sarah and Joshua are so creative and ambitious. I have been following them both for quite some time now. They should be at the top of the Instagram Suggestion list in my opinion. If you are on Instagram you should look them up: @joshuaweaver and @sarahsiroky. I am sure there is only a matter of time before they will be InstaFAMOUS. Anyways they happened to visit NYC when we had our first snow blowout of the winter. As my fingers were literally falling off I didn't care. Their love for each other is intoxicating and pure. I have no doubt they are going to do amazing and creative things. They made my heart melt. Sarah is also going to be the one to create my new logo. The girl that puts fashion to paper. I had the pleasure of shooting the gorgeous Katie who is behind PaperFashion. Her work is beautiful and I have been a follower of hers for about 4 years now. I know that sounds crazy, but it's so true. The fact that she asked me to shoot her portraits made me so happy. Not to mention a tad nervous...I am sure you are wondering why? Well right before we took photos she told me she doesn't usually like photos of herself. So I had that to overcome and prove to her and myself. I love a good challenge, and I must say I think these turned out lovely. She was just glowing. I hope you enjoy these. And Katie thank you again for asking me to take photos of you..I will never forget it.

Lately
Wow so many things have been happening as of late. I recently got a part-time job at UrbanOutfitters to have a little extra to buy some things for myself....haha. Anyways I realized I haven't really sat down and talked on here in a while. I am always updating with photos I am taking for projects I am doing. Not that I don't love updating everyone I also like to take time and talk about stuff. I am a human I have problems and ups and downs like everyone else. Though my Instagram may look dreamy, and only consist of coffee and doughnuts but....
Life isn't all doughnuts and daily cortados...hmm...if only...
Today I actually went to shoot something, but ended up rescheduling for later so then there was this camera I had on me...
I was actually walking back home and opened my eyes a little. I always pass this tattoo shop, and for some reason this time there was this little boy sitting in the doorway reading a book! First off I was taken back that this little boy was "reading" a book, and then I was even more thrown off by the fact he was just chilling in front of a tattoo shop. Something about the fact he was so into this book and not an ipad. Ipad's are taking over the world these days, especially with kids. They know how to work those things more then adults. Anyways the boy noticed me, and I asked him if I could take some photos. He said yes and I told him to stay how he was but to look down...then when I count to 3 just look up. He did so...perfectly I might add, and below is the result. Such a lovely moment.
Then I needed to walk around and enjoy the last fallen leaves that make the streets come alive. I do love snuggly weather, but boy does NYC take that to a whole another level. It has been teasing us lately, and I must admit I am dreading the blistering winds that are coming.
Also the last photo I must tell you about a lovely lady named Emily. She is the owner of The Object Enthusiast, and her products are beautiful. She send me a small vase and ring dish (I will photograph later) and I am just swooning over here. Make sure to check out her stuff....I promise you won't be leaving that cart empty...

Also it actually just turned 12 as I am writing this so I would like to give a shout out to my AMAZING / BEAUTIFUL / LOVING / SMART Momma. Happy Birthday Mom I LOVE you and I am so thankful that you are my mom. You have allowed me to follow my dreams, and I appreciate/love you more then you know.
